Individual Therapy

I aim to offer a confidential, reliable and non-judgmental space for you to work through your difficulties at your own pace. 

 

In terms of my therapeutic approach, I predominantly draw on compassion-focused therapy (CFT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). However, I take a personalised approach to treatment, drawing on these therapies in an integrative and flexible manner, to meet the unique needs, situation and goals of the person that I’m working with. 

 

If you would like to explore working together, I welcome you to get in touch. Our work together would start with an initial consultation/ assessment. During this appointment, you may wish to tell me about yourself and your current issues for which you’re seeking help with. This also gives you an opportunity to ask any questions. At the end of this appointment, we can discuss what would be helpful going forward. 

 

Tropical Leaves

If we decided to proceed with therapy, we would begin our work together by developing a greater understanding of you and your difficulties. It is possible that they took some time to develop to this point, and so taking some time to understand the patterns that you’ve become caught up in and that you’d like to find a way through can be valuable. As this understanding unfolds, we can then begin to explore changes that might be helpful to consider, to help you to find new ways of being that work better for you. The hope of therapy is to ‘free you up’ from ways of navigating the world that are no longer serving you, to give you more flexibility to choose alternative pathways, that feel meaningful and valuable to you.

Throughout our work together, I believe it’s important to have regular check-ins about how you’re finding your sessions, and the pace of our work together. You may feel ready to end therapy after a brief, limited number of sessions. Or you may feel that you would benefit from continuing with medium to longer term therapeutic support.
